a soap wedding goes wrong
A few months ago, she had turned into Weatherfield’s very own Miss Marple and was walking around telling everyone that Tony Gordon had killed Our Liam – which of course he had.
This week, she completed the turnaround in her feelings by a) inviting him to be Baby Liam’s godfather and b) sleeping with him. Either way, watching the bug-eyed Thunderbird get his 2013 Ralph Lauren Polo Shirts slimy lips on the lovely Maria is distinctly unappealing. As Michelle, Liam’s sister put it: »I feel sick. »
And so to Becky’s wedding. (Steve has had so many – and figured so little – it was all about her.)
It warmed up with some enjoyable sub-plots, notably Eddie’s fruit cake and the return of Jim »Catch yourself on » McDonald, Liz, and even Andy, who with his jug-ears and looked like a character from Wallace Gromit.
Becky was dressed in feathers and tiara like an anorexic Tinkerbell or a cygnet on smack.
She was so hopeful things could only go wrong.

In soaps of course, the best/biggest characters must suffer the most/worst drama. But it would actually have been a bigger/better shock if it had just actually gone well.
For weeks now though, »Slug » – a throwback to Becky’s Bad Old Days, has been sniffing around again.
First, it seemed he loved her. Then rather suddenly, instead he helped a member of her majesty’s constabulary plant a load of heroin in Becky’s handbag.
Eeeh, what is the world coming to ?
